Whimbrel   Numenius phaeopus

The species appears to arrive in Svalbard annually during the spring migration from mid-May to early June. Some of these birds seem to be staying on the archipelago until August. Single individuals mainly occur, but groups up to four individuals occur. There are no indications of breeding attempts.
